Features

Know where it all goes. Then do something about it.

See what debt costs you

Interest charged, late fees and annual fees, added up every month across all your cards and loans, so the number you want to shrink is right in front of you.

Never miss a due date

Scheduled bills and card payments in one list, with the ones due soon at the top of your overview.

Statement due dates come straight from your PDF statements, and SynergyOwl reminds you in the app and by email about a week before each payment is due.

Private accounts inside a shared household

Share the joint checking account and keep your own card to yourself. Private accounts never count in household totals, and the database itself keeps them from anyone else.

How it works

Three steps.No passwords handed over.

  1. Add your accounts

Checking, savings, credit cards and loans. Type a few letters of the bank and pick it from the list.

  2. Upload a statement from each bank

Download the statement or activity file from your bank's website and drop it in: PDF, CSV, OFX or QFX, or a screenshot from your phone.

  3. Review it once

Check what was imported and pick categories. Your rules and SynergyOwl's memory of each payee do the rest next time.

The SynergyOwl reports page with spending by category and the cost of debt: interest charged, late fees and annual fees for the year.
Reports. Spending by category, income, and the cost of debt for the year, for the whole household or just your own accounts.
The SynergyOwl accounts page listing checking, savings, credit cards and loans with balances, who holds each one, and a private badge on personal accounts.
Accounts. Every account and card with its balance, who holds it, and whether it is shared or private.

Security and privacy

Your statements.Nobody else's business.

  • No bank logins, ever. SynergyOwl never asks for one and never connects to a bank.
  • Each household is walled off by the database itself, not just by the app.
  • Private accounts stay private, enforced the same way, even from the rest of your household.
  • Passkeys and two-factor sign-in, with every support visit recorded.
  • Secrets encrypted at rest, and no bank or card credentials stored at all.
  • Export everything any time: every entry and every file you uploaded.

How SynergyOwl protects your data

FAQ

Questions before you start

Do you connect to my bank?

No, never. SynergyOwl never asks for a bank login and never connects to a bank. You download statements from your bank's website and upload them yourself.

Where does my data come from?

Only from the statement files you upload and the entries you type in. Duplicates are skipped when the same transactions appear in two downloads, and anything you delete stays deleted.

Which banks work?

Any bank or card issuer that lets you download a CSV, OFX or QFX file, which covers most US banks, including Chase, American Express, Citi, Capital One, Discover, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. PDF statements from card issuers work too, and so do screenshots of a statement or of your bank app.

Can my partner see my private accounts?

No. A private account, and every transaction in it, is visible only to you. The database enforces this, not just the screen, and private accounts never count in household totals.

Is it free?

Yes, while SynergyOwl is in early access. If paid plans are introduced later, you will be told well in advance and you can export everything at any time.

Can I export my data?

Yes. One download gives you every account, entry, category, rule and uploaded file, as spreadsheets plus the original files.

What does "cost of debt" mean?

It is what borrowing costs you each month: interest charged on cards and loans, late fees and annual fees, added up per month so you can see whether it is going down.

Do you use AI on my transactions?

Not today. Categories come from your own rules and from how you filed the same payee before. If AI categorisation is added, it will run without sending your transactions to a third-party AI service.

Is there a mobile app?

SynergyOwl works in the browser on any phone, tablet or computer. There is nothing to install.

What languages does it support?

English first. Spanish, French and Hindi are planned.

Put every account in one place.Keep your logins to yourself.

Free while in early access. No bank connections. No credit card.
